Anti Virus Precautions:

Install an Anti-Virus Program on all computers; Technoboys recommends CA , Trend , Kasperski , AVG , Symantec
Update your Anti-Virus software Definitions from your Anti-Virus software provider.
Technoboys can also provide technical support with resolving virus issues and remove unwanted viruses.

Known Email Issues:
Only open emails from senders you know.
Use caution when opening emails with attachments.
Make sure you have Anti-Virus software to protect your email.
Do not click on any "REMOVE" options contained with the message as they are just confirming your email address, but use the "block function" contain with your email program or use the spam option if your ISP has one.
Don't forward "Good Luck Letter" or "Chain Letters" as they another way of third Party vendors to get your email address for spamming, instead delete and let the sender know.

Spyware / Ad-Aware:
These type of programs are becoming more infectious than viruses.
These programs are small executable files downloaded via the internet or email without your permission, and will cause the following symptoms:
Slow down your computer system and send information based on your surfing habits and then send more Spyware / Ad-Aware to your computer.
Steal personal or general information from your computer to external servers or third parties. Spy-Sweeper or Windows Defender (free from Microsoft)

Power Spiking / Power Surges:
Technoboys.com recommends using Surge Protectors on all computer hardware (Computers, Monitors, Printers, Scanners, All-In One Fax systems, Laser Printers) Also UPS units for added protection (but not for laser Printers).

Data Backup:

Backup all frequently to minimize data loss
Copy data to local media (Zip Drives, External Hard Drives, CD ROM's Drives, Memory Flash Drives)

Freeing Up Disk Space:

To free up disk space, emptying the Recycle Bin, and clear the Cache.
Start, Settings, Taskbar & Start Menu... Start Menu Programs, Documents menu.
Or just replace your existing drive with a bigger drive. Click Here

Finding System Tools:

The Tools tab offers the following System Tools: ScanDisk, Backup and Defrag which can be used to optimize your system and protect your data.

Disk Defrag:

You should defrag your XP Windows Hard Drive at least once every 6 months as a good maintenance policy.

You will find the disk defrag utility under Start, Programs, Accessories, Systems Tools, Defrag.

Scan Disk:

You can use ScanDisk, in the System Tools folder, to check your hard disk for errors.

You will find the ScanDisk utility under Start, Programs, Accessories, Systems Tools, ScanDisk

Drive Space:

You can use the DriveSpace utility to compress hard for added disk space. (Reduces disk access time) "Technoboys.com" recommends replacing with new larger drive. Click Here

Disk Cleanup:

Cleanup unwanted temporary files from internet downloads and recycle bin.
