Networking (WAN / LAN / WIFI)

Experiencing Slow Internet/Network Services?

Router / Modem / Gateway:

When did you last reboot your Cable/Modem or Personal Router?

Suggestion: Every 3 / 6 months to allow for ISP updates and changes.

Most devices have a manual option for updating the Firmware/Software within the Admin Profile Option in the Router/Gateway and in addition most ISP use public IP Addresses and highly visible to most Hackers Etc.

Security:

With the onslaught of spyware and Malware ever present on the internet and via emails, now is the time to take a look at your internet Home/Small Business security.

Just don't accept your Internet Service Providers Security.
Protect your home internet with your own Hi-Tech Router behind the Service providers in your Home/Small Business for added security.

If you have an existing Wi-Fi Router in your home or small business and is more than 3 / 4 years old, now is the time to think about replacing this Router with the new technology and security of today's improved Routers with better filtering and blocking.

Most existing in-home Routers have never been setup correctly since they were installed or updated with the latest firmware from the manufacturers, making them venerable to attack or being compromised.

Most businesses today, employ a sophisticated array of technical hardware to protect their business, you should too.

WIFI Security:

How secure is your WIFI?

WIFI routers support a variety of security protocols to secure wireless networks: WEP, WPA and WPA2. However WPA2 is recommended over its predecessor WPA (Wi-Fi Protected Access). Probably the only downside of WPA2 is how much processing power it needs to protect your network.

Sharing My WIFI?

NEVER Share out your WIFI with other Businesses near you or your home WIFI with Neighbors, as you could risk every network device getting HACKED or compromised with TROJAN's, SPYWARE, MALWARE or even RAMSONWARE.

Passwords?

(Never use just numbers or family names for a WIFI password, we have seen many users use their phone numbers or names as the WIFI password and get HACKED!)

Change your Password every 3 to 6 months, or at least once a year!
Best Password combination: Alpha (Upper & Lower Case), Numeric (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0) and any Special Characters (!, @, #, $, %, ^, &, *, (, ), :, ", <, >, ? (If Supported)
In addition make the Password a minimum of 8 Characters, (but 10 or 12 would be better).
